“ILLUSIONS VS. REALITIES IN THE
ENERGY INDUSTRY”
JASON
MAKANSI, President Of Pearl Street, Inc.
Three years ago, electricity rates were skyrocketing. Energy shortages
were predicted. We were going to resort to importing natural gas from
overseas! Electricity was front-page news. Two years ago, a new
administration came in with some definite ideas about revolutionizing
our “antiquated” electricity grid. Today, electricity demand has shrunk.
The President has bigger fish to fry. We’ve gone through a massive
recession, precipitated by financial engineering. Suddenly, North
America has so much natural gas, we may export it to other countries. A
nuclear disaster in Japan might (but might not) be an inflection point
for our industry. Jason, a thirty year veteran of the energy industry,
will discuss industry trends and where the industry is headed in the
short term and for the long haul.

PLANNING IS SUCCESS PLANNING”
TERI
FISHER, CEO And Managing Partner Of Insight Strategies, Inc.
“What if you were hit by a truck tomorrow? Do you know who would replace
you…or, will you be forced to recruit from the outside? Would the
transition be seamless”?
A recent study states, in a healthy economy higher performers are 32%
more likely than lower performers to look elsewhere. How do you ensure
your most valuable assets don't race for the door? Out the door will go
the time, money and resources you spent to get this employee equipped to
deliver for you! Succession planning and career development efforts are
key to protecting your human assets. In this dynamic talk, Fisher
shows how to master Succession Planning so that when a key player leaves
or is promoted, you’re fully prepared. If you’re engaged with your
employees, you’ll notice if they start to disengage. Succession Planning
done right…provides daily engagement strategies.

DICK
FINNEGAN, President Of Finnegan Mackenzie, The Retention Firm
History proves that as economies improve, employee turnover goes up.
Many employees act on their pent-up frustrations by changing employers,
and the best performers get the most opportunities. Join Dick Finnegan
for a lively discussion on the top 10 things you can do to keep your
best employees as they have more opportunities to leave. This list will
be adapted from Dick’s book, “Rethinking Retention in Good Times and
Bad”, hailed by BusinessWeek as “offers fresh thinking for solving the
turnover problem in any economy”. This list contains some surprises
because solutions are not always about what you give employees but
instead how you make sure others in your organization are doing the
right things to keep them. 6
